Day 15 - We've arrived!

It's been about two weeks on the road and I'm happy to say that we're finally home.  Our journey was an incredible whirwind but I'm so glad we did it.  There are so many places I'm dying to go back to- White Sands in New Mexico, Hamilton Pool outside Austin, Palm Springs, Sedona, Big Sur... But now there are so many things we can do here in our home state!

Tonight we ate at Pok Pok and had ice cream at Salt & Straw.  This is an old photo of our house so I'll have to add an updated one later on.  But here she is in all her glory.  We're so happy and excited!  Thank you to everyone who's been following our journey.  Hopefully we'll be adding more to this blog soon!

Day 14 - Fairfield

Today we left San Francisco and headed to Fairfield, California where I grew up.  We visited the 2 houses I remember most.  The larger one I lived in from the ages of 8-11yrs roughly.  And the smaller one I lived in from 3-8yrs old.  This one is also just a few houses down from Loli- my mom's best friend from Spain who was like an aunt to me.  I haven't seen Loli in years and she's truly one of the sweetest and funniest women I know.  It was so nice to introduce her to my family.  Loli cooked us lunch and Rosey got to run around in her backyard.  I can totally hear her voice when I look at these pictures and miss her already.  Feeling very nostalgic today.

Day 13 - San Francisco

We're finding ourselves near the end of our little road trip and I'm already starting to miss it.  But also, I'm exciting about the final destination- our new home in Portland, Oregon.  I'm trying to live each day in the present, in hopes to experience everything to the fullest!

I've always loved San Francisco.  We didn't feel the need to spend a lot of time sightseeing partly because we know we'll be back again soon and partly because we're completely pooped.  When we drove into the city last night I noticed some posters for an art exhibit featuring one of my favorite children's book illustrators, Mary Blair. We went right after breakfast this morning which was so fun!  It was in the Disney Family Museum, definitely a must-go for Disney fans.  I was tearing up by the end of it.  Afterwards we hung out in Chinatown and ate some insanely overpriced sushi for lunch.  We went to Delores Park then back to the motel for some R&R.  Tomorrow, my hometown of Fairfield.

Day 12 - California Coast part 2 & Family time in Vallejo

The sun finally came out today and we had a beautiful drive up Highway 1 in California.  It was very hard to not want to stop at every turnoff for photos.  Afterwards we headed up to Vallejo to see my cousin, Lisa and her wonderful family.  Margot was so happy she got to go crazy with her buddy Morgan again!  Little Hunter has grown so much since we last saw him.  Tim cooked us lamb shanks with kale salad which blew us away.  After dinner the girls got to watch a little bit of "Frozen" before we hit the road again.  Thank you, Murrays!  We had such a great time!!!

Day 11 - California Coast, part 1

Today we started on Hwy 1 along the California Coast.  On the way to our hotel was a farmers market so we stopped to grab some snacks- organic strawberries, juice, salsa, guac and chips.  We took our goods to the hotel and just relaxed for the rest of the day.  So nice.  It's been raining a little bit but we got to hang out on the beach finding rocks.  Today I'm reminded of how lucky we are.  Also, of how much I love and have missed California!
